Temple Lodge No. 676 Conferred the Master Masons Degree on one Candidate this week (Thursday 3/10/11). Dinner was at 6:00PM – Beef Tenderloin, Baked Potato & Salad. The dinner was open to friends, family, and guests of Temple Lodge, there were about fifty in attendance.

Colonel Ed Shames (US Army Retired) was present to Raise his nephew FC Jeffery Berlin, to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason. Brother Berlin had already passed off his catechism on the Second Degree, but wanted to wait until his Uncle could attend.

There were many visitors and the Degree was very well done. After Brother Berlin was Raised, the Master presented Brother Shames with an Honorary Membership to Temple Lodge, following which SK’s Jim Glen & Clayton Wright presented Brother Shames with the York Rite Sovereign College “Gold Honor Award”. Brother Shames expressed his deep gratitude and the Lodge was closed.

Brother Shames is one of 8 surviving members of Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR), 101st Airborne Division, upon which the novel by William Ambrose and HBO Series “Band of Brothers” were based. (Read about Brother Shames)

After the meeting, Brother Shames shared stories with the Brethren… It was a very special experience. He wrote the forward to “Tonight We Die As Men”, a story of the 506th PIR in WWII.

Sincerely & Fraternally,
Clayton
